Locomotive Translations - Green technology on rails
Background
Our collaboration began in 2008 when the company started its expansion. The offerings of our client soon extended from handheld and notebook PCs to desktops, server and storage, to IT data center products and services. Therefore, we have been translating various documents for the client in the Information Technology sector and adapted to the client’s needs in the market evolution.
Challenges & Solutions
We expanded our pool of providers, tested and recruited them while taking their expertise and technical backgrounds into account.
As the translation volume continued to grow, we faced the need for experienced technical translators and had to train them based on our client’s special requirements. Furthermore, we had to adapt to a high volume and fast turnover by:
- Assigning a dedicated team to this account;
- Providing reference materials and creating glossaries and consistent terminology;
Since 2014, we are constantly dealing with the expanding Mobility sector of our client, especially by handling Rail Solutions, and providing high quality locomotive translations for them. Their brand is the locomotive platform for Europe-wide cross-border rail transport and it is being continually enhanced so that it is always up-to-date. This means that our linguists have to be prepared for big volumes within short deadlines and make sure they keep abreast of new terminology regarding technical innovations.
Another challenge is that the client prefers working in high volume batches of approximately 400.000 words within a timeframe of around one month. Such high volumes and tight deadlines require excellent organizational skills from our project managers, who coordinate a team of translators and reviewers to make sure that terminology and overall translation meet our client’ expectations. We have scheduled partial deliveries and finished the work on time and our client was pleased with the result, the high quality of the translations, and our team’s effective way of handling these tasks.
