Automotive Translations - Global tyre manufacturer
Background
When they moved their Central and Eastern European headquarters to Bucharest, they were looking for a localization partner, highly specialized in automotive translations and who covered all the languages from the countries of their interest.
Challenges & Solutions
For all automotive translation projects, a dedicated PM, Vendor Manager and QA Manager worked together and had several briefs with the client to define the different stages of the projects, but also to list potential difficulties and possible solutions. Our successful output came as a result of a good correlation between the assigned PM, the in-house team, the translators dedicated to this account, and the client.
Prior to our collaboration, we selected, tested and recruited new providers, while taking their expertise and technical backgrounds into account with a tinge of marketing ability. As the translation volume continued to grow, we faced the urgent need for experienced technical translators and had to train them based on our client’s special guidelines.
Additionally, we had to adapt to the high volume and fast turnover by assigning a team of translators dedicated to this account and specialized in automotive translations. For this account, one main PM and a back-up had to deal with requests from over 15 different contacts in different countries and from various departments of the company, each one with unique demands and particularities. The documents received always required in-house processing before being sent for translation. Some involved text extraction and DTP, others were presentations with embedded documents that also had to be considered and translated before being reintegrated into main documents.
Diverse yet consistent terminology across departments was another important milestone for us. We dealt with a large variety of text typologies from different sectors and so achieving excellence in terms of accuracy in such circumstances was a challenging task. Doing continuous in-house research on our client`s dedicated terminology and keeping it customized and updated via our CAT tools was therefore a must.
We were entrusted with various types of documents :
- campaigns for new products : presentations, leaflets, banners, posters, vouchers, commercial conditions;
- campaign protocols;
- catalogues;
- user guides;
- webshop articles;
- newsletters;
- cookies lists and policies;
- partnership contracts;
- car dealers conditions and guidelines;
- tutorials;
- video transcripts;
- tyre regulations;
- marketing (invitations, posters, follow-up letters);
Another crucial step in the procedure we implemented for all automotive translations was sending comprehensive guidelines and instruction files to our linguists. As the turnaround time was at most times very short, we needed a real-time implementation of instructions. Online communication and information exchanges between the involved teams of translators, editors and the internal team was key for delivering the expected outcome.
